On November 1, Security Public Storage locations throughout the West Coast and greater Washington D.C. metro area began collecting donations for Toys for Tots. Collecting donations for Toys for Tots has become an annual tradition at SPS and we’re excited to announce a record-breaking number of donations from our customers. Between November 1 and December 6, 2019, our facilities collected 2,148 toys! That’s an increase of 765 toys from last year’s final total of 1,383 toys.

SPS and Toys for Tots

SPS locations began collecting donations for Toys for Tots in 1997. This year represents 22 years with some SPS locations participating in the drive to provide toys for less fortunate children. This year is also the fifth consecutive year with 100% participation by all SPS storage facilities across the country. As you can see from the photos from our facilities, many of our locations ended up looking like toy stores for the three weeks prior to the donation deadline.

Manager and customers with toy donations

Each of the two previous years has been record-breaking with all of our locations participating and this year is no different. We truly have the best customers and staff members that contributed to another record-breaking year of Toys for Tots donations. The dedication and generosity of our customers continue to bring us joy and inspires us year-after-year.

We encouraged our customers, staff members and everyone throughout our local communities to donate at a nearby SPS location. During this season of giving, we believe strongly in helping less fortunate children in our local communities who may not otherwise have gifts to open during the holiday season. We participate in this annual toy drive because we believe in the mission of the Toys for Tots program and love making a difference in the communities where we have self-storage facilities.

And the Winner is…

We know our customers donate to Toys for Tots out of the kindness of their own hears, but we wanted to thank those of you for sharing your donations and stories with us on social media. Our blog introducing the toy drive encouraged our customers to share their donations photos on Facebook and Instagram for the chance to win an Amazon.com gift card. We’re pleased to announce that Tammy Aramian will receive the prize in honor of their donations to Toys for Tots. Thank you to everyone who donated and to everyone who shared their stories with us on social media.

Thank You for Participating!

At SPS, we want to extend our deepest and most sincere “Thank you!” to everyone who participated in our Toys for Tots drive this year. We couldn’t have collected this many donations without you. We appreciate you, our generous and caring customers. Thank you for sharing the holiday spirit and brightening the season for local children in all of the cities we serve. The record-breaking number of donations collected will make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children and we can’t wait to keep the streak going in 2020.
